TT Has ECO Goals!
Every year, Tom Thomson Public School creates a list of goals for being an eco school, and for keeping the earth healthy. There are six main goals we have, and they’re divided into two groups: waste minimization and energy conservation. So let’s start off with our waste minimization goals.
The first goal is to have litterless and boomerang lunches. Students are encouraged to bring reusable Tupperware containers, water bottles, and cutlery. If they are unable to provide these things, then we also encourage them to put the garbage back in their lunch bags, and bring it home. In order to encourage them to do so even more, for a certain amount of time, we make every Tuesday a litterless lunch day. Students who don’t bring any garbage to school on litter-less lunch days receive a small reward like a sticker or a pencil.
The second goal is to use G.O.O.S. paper instead of wasting brand new paper, and to use both sides of paper. Each classroom has it's own G.O.O.S. paper bin, and that paper is used instead of brand new paper except for when you need to use two sides, for example on a test.
